Matt Kahn:

The New Yorker has rejected my cartoon caption several times but I think I have a funny one.

Your Caption:

I'm working on my knight moves. Trying' to make some front page drive-in news.

I've left out the embarrassing part of the post where Matt feels the need to actually explain his joke.

It is an awesome caption, no need for explanation.

I get it! Y’see it’s a play on words using a Chess reference to a Knight (the horsey looking piece in Chess) and the first chorus Bob Seger’s December 1976 release ‘Night moves.’

I would have made it more subtle:
“I woke last night to the sound of thunder.”
