Can you imagine if the partial government shutdown hurt someone other than distasteful people?
Republicans are stepping up their attacks on the Interior Department’s closure of parks and monuments during the shutdown.
But a Democrat is fighting back.
The back-and-forth is a preview of looming House and Senate hearings on how the shutdown is affecting public parks, lands and monuments.

Just a thought, if:
(a) public lands, fishery and wildlife resources are managed by the government to avoid overexploitation (i.e., a tragedy of the commons) and
(b) the government partially shuts down and
(c) the gates are opened so that anyone can use these resources however they want (i.e., shoot three elk instead of two, catch a boatload of red snapper, tinkle on a monument, etc.) then …
Couldn't that create some problems (i.e., a tragedy of the commons)?
