    Precisely. Many want politically-correct unicorns provided that some wicked somebody else pays for them. Which indeed helps explain the new Congress – many liked Obama’s goody-twoshoes aspects until the bills threatened to become due. Then they wanted a shield instead. Just another facet of the non-mysteriousness of voter behavior on climate issues. (And not totally dissimilar to the now partially lignite-driven Energiewende in Germany.)

    if higher gas taxes are meant to reduce future global warming, does that mean the current cuts in gasoline prices will increase future global warming?
    (SUV and RV sales are already booming, btw)
