Ohio lawmakers are prepared to deal with the algae problem on Lake Erie that poisoned the
water supply

Toledo making it undrinkable for two days

Trying to avoid the problems of the lame duck session where a massive bill weighed down by
everything from dealing with the algae issue to puppy mills got stuck in the Senate, lawmakers are
planning separate bills to combat toxic algae in the next few weeks.

“When it comes to cleaning up Lake Erie, we can’t afford not to,” Sen. Randy Gardner,
R-Bowling Green, said. “The impact to the economy and the environment both outweigh some of the
funding issues that have been brought to the debate.”
