Where have I been for the past week?  Well, I had the privilege (used loosely) of taking the Official Only Son of Env-Econ (OOSEE), and his baseball tea–the Crush Baseball Club–to Omaha, Nebraska to compete in a 12 and under baseball tournament centered around the NCAA College World Series.  This is a national tournament with 34 teams from all over the country.  The boys live the week in a dorm (barracks?) along with two coaches (lucky me…).  Here's the story…

The trip started with a stop in Chicago, for a Cubs game at Wrigley field, where thanks to a good friend, OOSEE and I were granted VIP field access pregame…

On Field at Wrigley…where we got to stay on the field for the Pirates batting practice.

BP at WrigleyUnfortunately, after batting practice, the skies opened up…

Rain Delay…for two hours.  A few beers were necessary.

After the delay, we made our way to our not-too-shabby seats…

After Chicago, we made our way to Omaha (Iowa was surprisingly pretty, but I forgot to take pictures),  where we headed to the Omaha Champions Village to meet up with the rest of the team.

…against teams from California (loss 10-1), Florida (loss 5-3), Wisconsin (win 13-3), Texas (win 8-0) and Nebraska (win 15-0).  The 3-2 record seeded us 5th out of 16 teams in our division.  Unfortunately, the rains came…

…and washed out the end of the tournament.

But overall a great experience for the boys, and an exhausting one for me.
