Environmental Economics

I have been very
gratified by
the reception that the second edition of this book has received;
and I
appreciate the many requests that I have received to undertake
another revision
of the book to reflect recent developments in the field. I am
immensely
grateful that Joe Herriges and Cathy Kling agreed to join me as
coauthors of
the third edition. And I am very pleased to announce that the
third edition is in
production at RFF Press with an anticipated publication date of
mid-May, 2014.
As the field of nonmarket valuation has become more mature,
researchers have
developed increasingly sophisticated econometric tools.  A primary goal in this
revision has been to
update the text to reflect these advances. 
In addition the chapter on stated preference methods has
been completely
rewritten and the recreation demand chapter significantly updated.
The new
edition also includes more details on empirical approaches to
measurement,
expanded discussion of the reasons for divergence between
"willingness to
pay" and "willingness to accept compensation," and increased
coverage of econometric issues encountered in estimation. It also
includes more
discussion of survey design, equilibrium sorting models, and the
implications
of behavioral economics for welfare measurements and benefit cost
analysis.
