If anyone knows of outstanding high school students who are looking
to major in sustainability at a major land grant university, I happen to
know of a new program that just might fit the bill. It's called Environment, Economy, Development and Sustainability and it just launched this fall.

Ohio
State on Sunday (9/30) announced it has signed a letter of intent with
Iberdrola Renewables to purchase 50 megawatts (MW) of wind energy capacity from
the Blue Creek Wind Farm, located in Van Wert and Paulding counties in Ohio.
The purchase of clean, renewable wind energy capacity equates to approximately
25 percent of the entire Columbus campus electricity load, and is one of the
single largest purchases of actual renewable energy by any university in the
country.
The agreement helps Ohio State take a big step toward becoming a
"carbon neutral university," a commitment the university has been
working toward since President Gee signed the American College and
University Presidents Climate Commitment in 2008. The university continues
to develop and implement plans to achieve its sustainability goals, including
the creation of a campus culture that embraces sustainability.
